Tonight we introduce our last new Guest Designer of Semester 3 ... so lets give a warm welcome to Anneke De Clerck. Some of you may recognise Anneke from her design work in Craft Stamper. We adore Anneke's use/application with colour and her bold yet clean and simple designs.
"Hello everyone,I'm Anneke and I'm here with my very first project as GD for PaperArtsy. So glad to be part of the team for the final semester of 2014. I
live in a small village in Belgium together with my husband and 25 year old
daughter. I have been fond of crafting for as long as I can remember. I love card making, book binding, working in my Art Journal, making canvase. On
most of my projects I use stamps and my work is usually very colourful. I love perfection. I’m fond of
embellishments but my own style is rather clean and simple. During the years I
became more interested in all kinds of techniques and in mixed media art. I
often translate art journaling/mixed
media techniques into cards. I love
experimenting with different kinds of paints/inks, a great way to express my
creativity! I have a sketchbook in which I note ideas, color
combinations, stamp combinations ….This is a great tool when it comes to
creating new projects. However I often change my mind during the process and let my
hands do the thinking".
For
the projects of my first week I've chosen 3 Eclectica EDY stamp sets
to work with. Love the PaperArtsy stamps designed by the very talented
Darcy Wilkinson ♥ Take a look at her collection, lots of awesome stamps HERE
I made a set of matching tags to start with. I used this fabulous new EDY10 set.
First I've cut 3 tags (size#5) out of PaperArtsy Smoothy Heavy Weight Card Stock (340gsm). I
did the colouring with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paints. I have to admit
I never worked with that paint before but ... I'm already addicted. Love
the beautiful colours and the matt finish! I went for a pink/orange and green colour combination.
I started dry brushing the tags with a flat (nearly dry) brush and Fresco Finish Paint Candy Floss.
I worked on the three tags at the same time, jumped back and forth between them. I'm fond of working in series. Starting with the same tags, using
the same products, the same colour palette, but however ending up
with 3 different tags with a cohesive look, that's what I love about it!
I overstamped the painted backgrounds with text from the EDY10 set and stripes from EEV05. I did the stamping with paint and used a piece of Cut N Dry foam to load up the stamps.
I used Archival Ink Jet Black to stamp the flowers and the cute birdhouse.
On the pink/orange tags I painted with Fresco Finish Paint Limelight which as you know is a translucent paint. In order to prevent the pink/orange background showing through I added a coat of Fresco Finish Paint Chalk first.
At this stage the PaperArtsy Grunge Paste came in! Next I used a PS008 to add flowers and the word 'bloom'.
On this tag I added Grunge Paste randomly with a palette knife and stamped into the wet paste.
I coloured the Grunge Paste with Smoked Paprika Candy Floss and Orchid.
I'm totally in love with the Limelight colour.
On
the 'bloom' tag I used a piece of crinkle ribbon for the tag topper. I
coloured the ribbon with Distress Ink in matching colours.
If you're familiar with my work you know I'm fond of tag toppers. Here I used a piece of linen ribbon and some matching cord.
Love the way the Grunge Paste flowers turned out after adding some paint. Look at that structure, wow!
I hope you've enjoyed this post, thanks for watching! Tomorrow I'll be back with another project .... so stay tuned!
~Anneke~
A huge welcome and thank you to Anneke from all at PA HQ .... The fresh/zingy colours you chose to use work perfectly with Darcys collection of images. Your application of colour and layering of opaques/translucents is first class Anneke as is the depth of stamping achieved using Grunge Paste. A beautifully "bloomin" trio of debut tags.
