Welcome Back GD: Liesbeth Fidder Project #1 Leporella Accordion Book {Part 1}

"Hello again, Liesbeth here, welcome to my second project as a PaperArtsy Guest Disigner! Another big project this week, split up in three days. I made a Leporella, an accordion book. It was a great pleasure do and I enjoyed to work with the several PaperArtsy supplies again ! And ...I also used lots of the AMAZING newest Lynne Perrella stamps !! Really love them".

First up the covers. Let me show you how to create a very vintage, antique look by using Grunge Paste and  Fresco Finish paints.

I cut out two pieces of Smoothy Heavy Weight cardstock (14,8  x  14,8  cm) and made swirly relief by using Grunge Paste and a stencil ( Crafters Workshop Mini Brocade).

I dried the paste very well by using my heat gun.

I painted both cards all over with a mix of Inky Pool and Space Cadet Fresco Finish.

I spread a thick layer of Crackle Glaze on the areas without relief, and let dry.

I painted the entire surface with Mermaid. Be sure that you don't touch the crackled areas twice at the same spot with your brush.

After drying the first layer of Mermaid, I started to build up layers of paints. I used Tikka, Beach Hut, Mermaid and French Roast. I used (and love!) the different opacity of the paints, some are translucent, some are (semi)-opaque. It turned out in a beautiful worn, shabby and antique look.

I started by painting a little bit Tikka here and there, and immediately wiped off with a baby wipe.

I repeated the same with the other colours several times until I was happy with the look.

Because I thought it needed a little more darkness, I added a bit of Inky Pool as well.

For a dramatic effect, I watered down some French Roast adding big drops of it on the top of the cards ...

.... before spraying water to let the paint flow down, I moved the card around to let it flow where I wanted it to.

This was the result , I liked it !

To finish the backgrounds, and to let the relief pop up a bit, I added some colours of Treasure Gold on the relief.

Tomorrow I'll be back to show you how to create the inside pages of the Leporella, hope to see you then!

Leandra Says: What an awesome start to the week! Grey Board is such an "all rounder" substrate to work with. The texture achieved from the Grunge Paste and Crackle Glaze is simply wonderful Liesbeth. Beautiful!

Gillian Says: The worn shabby appearance to this cover is divine Liesbeth, love the textures and colours to this Journal. Eager to see more!

If you would like to join in this week's challenge and play along with Liesbeth's techniques, then do link up your creativity HERE, and go in the draw to win some PA stamps of your choice! You need to link your entry by 17:00, Sunday June 8th 2014
