"Hi! Keren here again. I'll put you a little more out of your misery from being so secretive. Here's where we're getting to today".
The back of the box was just plain mdf so I thought I'd use a piece of acrylic paper to add Grunge Paste- the box is quite sizeable so I couldn't use Smoothy as it didn't quite fit.
Now, before you all run away in horror; yes, that is glitter on my workspace. I know it's not a usual go-to supply for all you artsy girls and guys, but my project needed a bit of a light lift for the background and iridescent glitter would just give that touch of sparkle and reflect the light.
I've used this Lin Brown Stencil.
It worked well, now just to do a random pattern over the piece. I am,by nature, an impatient crafter and the thought of waiting for each section to dry was too much, so I chopped the stencil up so I'd have room to place other images whilst not affecting the other Grunge Paste ones. My washi tape came in pretty handy for this.
So, once dried, I attached it to the back and then set off decorating a tag to hang inside. I'm using the beautiful Hot Picks 1301 set again
Using some Smoothy Heavyweight I created a long tag and masked off most of the tag so I could extend the flower spray at the top.
I added some of the flowers in the bottom right corner to add balance to the design.
I also stamped two of the butterflies onto acetate in white Stazon, left to dry and then cut out.
I stamped lots more flowers and coloured in using my Copic/Promarker pens and then cut each flower out. By pressing the flowers in a circular motion in the centre on foam, this allowed the flowers to take on a 3D effect. I created a 'spray' of blooms across the tag.
By adding one of the white folded acetate butterflies to the centre using adhesive from a tape runner, it gave the tag a lovely 3D element.
I added twine to the top of the tag so I then could hang it from inside the box. I wanted next to create a mini work of art for one of the 'shelves' so needed a mini easel to hold it. I sketched out an easel shape, traced it 3 times and trimmed it out. I glued them together.
I added a back piece and then 3 long pieces to act as the ledge to hold my mini 'canvas'.
Then, I just stamped out one of the smaller stamps, added stripes with my alcohol markers and added two cut out flowers to the edge of the easel.
The box is still not full, tomorrow we'll do some hanging hearts and stitching! I hope you can join me then.
