Welcome Back GD: Clare Lloyd #1 Funky Journal Tag

Hello everyone, Clare here back with another project! Today I explore some art journaling ideas working on large manila tags.

So first I painted 2 manila tags #8 using Snowflake.

Then out came one of my favourite stencils Mini Chervon Arrows and some Pea Coat which I stencilled through.

I mixed things up a bit and stencilled the arrows in different directions on the tags.

Now came some layering by stamping with Rose Fresco paint and a stamp from Eclectica: Lin Brown (Plate 01).

Ok, so I decided I just had to have some black on there ( Black Archival ink, Ranger) and I used a background stamp from Ink and the Dog Collection: Background Plate 1.

Then another layer of stamping with Orchid paint using a stamp from the Ink and the Dog Background Plate 1. Plus a touch of Indigo Treasure Gold around the edge of the tags.

Next I slapped Orchid paint onto some scrap Smoothy card and once dried I stamped this fab flower from the E Lin Brown 01 set, again using Black Archival ink.

All the flowers got cut out leaving a little border and positioned onto my tag front/ back. I added a little dry adhesive to keep them in place and then they were ready for my next stage...the sewing machine!

Now time to sandwich the Manilla # 8 tags together to create a double sized art journal tag using the sewing machine.

To finish off I stamped up the sentiment from the Eclectica: Lin Brown (Plate 01) onto Smoothy card to add to my tag and also added a little more stamping using Ink and the Dog Mini 72.

Here is the finished tag.

I thought you might like to see how I bind my loose leaf journal pages/tags using a super size book binding ring.

I will be back tomorrow with the beginnings of another art journal tag idea which might take some of you out of your comfort zone!

Leandra Says: It's great to watch how other people work! So very enlightening! Your colour choices and background development are so different to what I would automatically do, and I love how it all comes together. eg. I would have washed the BG back with something lighter to knock it back before adding the round flowers on top, but you left it as is, and instead used the black stitching to make the feature elements pop off against the bold BG, and it works beautifully too! I really love this Clare, its sparked a similar idea in my head to try! Thankyou

Gillian Says:The boldness of the background pattern along with your chosen colours look gorgeous, love the addition of the black stitching.

If you would like to join in this week's challenge and play along with Clare's techniques, then do link up your creativity here, and go in the draw to win some PA stamps of your choice! You need to link your entry by 17:00, Sunday February 9nd 2014.
