Hi everyone, Jo Myhill here with another project to inspire you.
I bought some beeswax and some UTEE recently as I really liked the idea of a glossy layer both these products could give to shabby projects. As yet I haven't been brave enough to try the beeswax but UTEE I'm a bit more familiar with as its really just mega embossing powder!
I took the larger house frame and painted it in a rough layer of Brown Shed. Then I ran a candle over the top to act as a resist and added a light dry layer of Taupe. I dried it and then added a lighter layer of Taupe (mixed what was left on the craft sheet with Snowflake. I then sanded to reveal lower layers and then a very light dry brush of London Bus.
The tag was dry brushed in Taupe and then stamped with Mini 23 and embossed in a folder. Brown Shed and Vintage Photo Distress Ink were added.
The heart was cut with the PaperArtsy die in Grunge Paper and painted in layers of Brown Shed. Taupe and London Bus and Brown Shed mixed.
The edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Stain. I inked the whole heart with VersaMark and then added my first layer of UTEE, followed by another two layers. I quite like how the UTEE sort of diffuses the ink underneath to make it look "more shabby"! As Distress ink is not permanent and reacts with liquid, when the UTEE is heated to melting point, the distress ink will then be reactive with the molten UTEE.
Mini 62 script was used to stamp the scripty bits in London Bus
and then the Mini 96 flourish was stamped in Plum Archival.

Finally a small strip of Hessian, some scrunched up Crunchy Kraft and two eyelets with Ginger Alcohol Ink on them to complete the look and hold everything together.
I hope you enjoy this mini project and I can't wait to see your interpretations.

A huge thank you to Jo from PaperArtsy HQ. Taupe is a fabulous colour to use in layered projects like this. It is neutral but has warmth, and is a great background for the London Bus which really pops beautifully. Nice to see you back Jo!
