Welcome Joanne Wardle Project #1 Hallowe'en Party Invite ....

"Hello everyone, Joanne here ready to start my Guest Designer Semester. I'm starting with some Hallowe'en stamps for my first month. “It's too early for Hallowe'en,” I hear you shout. But not in the crafting world, or if you have a party to organise".

I know that Hallowe'en may not be one of the big “card-sending” holidays. But it's definitely a crafting holiday. You could send this card as a general hallowe'en card but I designed it as a Hallowe'en Party invitation. The quote immediately said Hallowe'en party to me and was the inspiration for the card.

When making invitations there are two main things I think you need to remember

1)   They need to be quick to make as you might need to make lots, and Ideally they should something that can be batch-made.

2)   They need to be flat, so that you won't have to pay the extra for a “large” stamp. As this is a one layer card, that's no problem at all.

I used the Hallowe'en images from Hot Pick03 and Hot Pick 04 along with some Eggplant Fresco Paint.

The quote was simply stamped using Archival Ink Jet Black, directly on white card blank, and the cat was stamped to fit at the side of the quote

Inspired by the “sparkle your cats” line from the quote, I drew around the edge of the cat with a fine edge glue pen (to create an “aura” of sparkle”

Poured on fine glitter.... this stuff gets everywhere!!

And brush of the excess ....

The card was then finished with a simple brush of Eggplant paint. To do this I just dropped a little bit of paint onto my glass mat and dipped a flat brush into it, and just swiped it across the card.

This close up shows the glitter better, it really looks so much more sparkly in real life.

I hope you can join me again tomorrow night when I am back sharing project #2.

Leandra Says: Ohhh love your eye for detail. And how cool can one swipe of paint be! Just you wait for the new paints...there might be another ideal Hallooween colour that you might lurve too!!! but I'm not allowed to say much at this point!!! LOL

Gillian Says: Welcome Joanne, your clean and simple composition as always is so effective. The swipe of Eggplant and addition of glitter is just "purrfect".

  14. Fabulously clean and simple. The brushstroke of purple is so effective and probably not as easy as it looks (I know I'd mess it up LOL).
