"I’ve carried on with the sewing theme today but this time I’ve opted for the wood frame for my project".
First of all I gave the frame a coat of Irish Cream FrescoFinish Paint which, as it’s an opaque, covered the wood perfectly. I chose a light
colour as I knew I wanted to use Crackle Glaze and have light coloured cracks
on the wood.
After I’d applied the Crackle Glaze and dried it I mixed the
colour for the top coat using Mocha Mousse, French Roast, Mud Splat and BrownShed. This is a very haphazard process so I can’t tell you how much of each I
used !
Using a soft brush I brushed Classic Treasure Gold through
the Bingo stencil. I really liked the effect of the Treasure Gold through the
stencil and I love how it shines when the light catches it.
For the background of the frame I used some Smoothy White Stamping Card and
first of all coated it with Old Paper Distress Stains.
I wanted the first layer of stamping to be quite pale so I
used Sepia Archival Ink which I stamped onto a scrap piece of card first using
the Mini 65 stamp.
I carried on using the second generation stamping technique using
the Mini 56 stamp, the text stamp from Hot Picks 1215 and the dots from HotPicks 1204.
I then used the dress form from Hot Picks 1215 and stamped
it with Coffee Archival Ink. Love how the background text shows through !
I blended Distress Inks; Tea Dye, Vintage Photo and Walnut
Stain, around the edges. This is my
favourite Distress Ink combination!
I carried on using Coffee Archival Ink and stamped the
buttons and text from Hot Picks 1214. I then zipped around the edge with my
sewing machine, which you’ll see in a later photo.
Don’t you just love this sewing machine ! I thought it was
perfect for my vision of the old sewing shop. I stamped it onto some Smoothy White Stamping Card then cut it out and painted it with Elephant and Chocolate Pudding Fresco
Finish Paint.
I then painted some Grunge Paper with Irish Cream and
stamped the images from Hotpicks 1214 and 1215 using Black Archival Ink and cut
them out. I pierced holes in the frame image and sewed little buttons on to it
with red thread.
I also stamped the ‘sewing room’ sign onto the painted
Grunge Paper, cut it out and sewed a small sewing machine embellishment to it.
The metal embellishments have all been brushed with Classic Treasure Gold as
have the edges of the frame.
I wound some more red thread around a small cotton reel and
added some large buttons to finish.
Hope you’ve enjoyed today’s project, see you on Wednesday evening!
