Suzanne Czosek #1 .... Joie de Vivre

"Hi everyone it is great to be back! This week I decided to introduce a little shabby chic influence into my projects. I have incorporated, flowers, buttons, lace, doilies and of course the wonderful PaperArtsy images".

My first project is a lovely wood frame that allowed me to mix together a variety of textures and create a shadow box of "Joie de Vivre"

I started by painting the outside of the frame and the box with the lovely Mermaid Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint. After the paint dried, I stamped the "Newspaper Print" from the HotPick 1207 stamp set using StazOn Jet Black ink around the edges of the frame and inside the bottom of the box.

I repeated the pattern until the surface was covered.  I then distressed the edges of the frame using Chocolate Pudding Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint.

I wanted to play with the versatile CrunchyWax Kraft Paper as it provided the perfect layer of texture for my background.  I crumpled a piece of wax paper into a ball, then flattened the wax paper and smeared Mermaid over the surface.

The next steps involve the Artemio Wood Swallow embellishments ....

Paint the sweet wood swallow using Mermaid, let dry or dry with heat gun {one of the qualities of Fresco Chalk Acrylics is that it's almost immediately touch dry} Stamp flowers from HotPick 1009 using StazOn Jet Black ink along right side of the bird. Paint the flowers with a touch of Haystack. I added a few highlights in the center of the flower with a white gel pen.

Paint theArtemioWide Leafy Wood Branch using Chocolate Pudding. Once dry stamp "graph stamp" from HotPick Xtra01 using StaZon Jet Black ink.  Repeat until leaf branch is covered. Sponged edges of the leafy branches with a touch of Haystack

(For the remaining pieces inside the frame)

Paint white cardstock with a coat of Mermaid. Let dry before stamping "sentiment" from Hot Pick 1205. Cut to a strip, rip edges on end and score to create banner.

Attach Crunchy Wax Paper in bottom, layer in lace doily with buttons and twine. Attach leafy branch. To give the bird height I used an acetate box to pop it up.

I cut a strip of acetate and score to form a box. The acetate makes a nice lift without showing up.

Attach the doily to corners and accent with lace flowers and buttons.

"Now I have a lovely piece of wall art just in time for Mothers Day"!

Join me again tomorrow evening for another fun project!
Leandra Says: A lovely project Suzz full of textures and dimension! I love Mermaid and Haystack together, wonderful !
Gillian Says: Wonderful combination of textures and layers, the colours are beautiful, loving the touches of Haystack with Mermaid. I must did out that "newspaper" stamp as it's so effective on this frame.

I am having a problem with your posts and google reader. The heading does not take me to your blog post, but puts me back to my reading list!!
Any clues why this is happening?

  11. Hi Glennis I'm not sure, but a good plan is to clear your browsing history, cookie cache, shut down, and re start. If that doesn't work use a different browser option.
I have some things I do in certain browsers that I can't do in others, like editing my website. As there are so many browser options, I guess its hard to be a one size fits all. Plus Blogger can be weird at times! LOL
