Michelle Webb #3 .... Altered Paper Mache Pencil Case

"I really like decorating something practical that I can use, because then you can appreciate what you make and then get some use out of it too".
I started off with a natural paper mache pencil case as the base of this project, then all I had to do was to think what colour I was going to paint it. I selected Claret, Very Berry, Vintage Lace and Snowflake Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints.
I began by priming the pencil case with Snowflake inside and out.
I then painted the outside of the pencil case with the colours above. I adore these pinky red colours. I painted the inside of the pencil case with Mermaid and Snowflake, to give just a hint of blue colour.

Then I stamped the outside of the pencil case with the lines stamp from the HPXT01EZ stamp set using a Rocket Red Gold Brilliance Ink Pad. I always forget how nice these ink pads are.

I repeated the stamped lines image inside too.
I couldn’t just stop there though!! I used the "star stamp" from the Vintage ID07EZ stamp set

{love this star with the text running through it}

 on the outside of the pencil case using Archival Ink (Maroon). I then repeated the star design on the inside of the case this time using a light blue Brilliance Ink Pad. I stamped my (unknown designer) "spiky circle stamp" using Distress Stain (Tarnished Gold) on the inside and the outside of the case.
I stamped the word "Wisdom" from the Hot Picks HPXT04EZ stamp set ....

and the "Hand" image from Mini 31 stamped onto Smoothy White Stamping Card. I opted to cut out the word "Wisdom", but tore out the "Hand" image. I lightly stamped both pieces of card with the star , again using the light blue Brilliance Ink Pad to tie in with the inside of the case. I inked up the edges of the card with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink, then stuck them on the pencil case with Pinflair  glue.

"You can put all sorts of things inside this gorgeous little pencil case, not just pencils! I’ve used mine to put my paint brushes in. I wonder what you would put in yours"?

Leandra says: Well I'm with you using it for paintbrushes! I have never thought of that, but that's a perfect idea. Love the lines stamp too, its an awesome BG stamp, and suits this really well. Thanks again Michelle!

Gillian Says:  Loving the colour palette you opted for this project Michelle, including the touches of blue. Ideal way to store those paint brushes!

A huge thanks to Michelle for another week of inspirational projects. Michelle will be back the 1st week in March.

  2. This is a cool project too - love the red-pink colour! The stamping inside the box is a great idea, rather than leaving it plain.
