Linda Cain #2 Vintage Lady Triptych

"Now that I’ve gotten my feet wet with all these fabulous products, and yours as well, I thought I’d delve into a more extensive project"!

I started with a Wooden Icon Triple from PaperArtsy that I painted with Fresco Finish (London Night) as the base coat. I added layers of BalticBlue and Eggplant to the edges and areas of interest. When dry I added a bit more of the darker colors with a dry brush effect.

 I wanted a worn look on the back so I stamped the "medallion" image from LPC017 directly onto the wood, and stenciled branches with Snowflake around it. Doing the back first lets you create the front without worrying about smashing the insides work at the end.

LPC017

Now you can tape your stencils to the inside/front of your work and add some Snowflake paint using Cut-n-Dry foam.

Remove the stencil gently to reveal your work and dry with a heat tool.

 Sand with a light gauge sandpaper to “age” the look.  Then add a bit moreEggplant to dull the white paint.

Next we use 2 of the Long Leafy Branches and add Honey Dew as a base, and pounce with Limelight and Hyde Park. Stamp with Mini 28 and Olive Archival Ink.

Using the Vintage Cabinet Card and Mini Cabinet Card die from Tim Holtz, I cut 2 pieces of plain chipboard out. Using the mini card die I added Snowflake and Vintage Lace. The next layer was added using SmokedPaprika

 Then I edged some more with Autumn Fire

Dry with a heat tool and stamp the "Veiled Lady" from the Lynne Perrella 019 collection using Versafine Onyx Black Ink {because these stamps are so detailed, Versafine Ink is recommended to give a clean/sharp image}

 I added a bit of light color with water based markers to this image.
The larger Cabinet Card piece was trimmed of its side edges in order to fit into the center section of the triptych, then base painted with Snowflake. I added Limelight and Hyde Park to the edges.

 Then I stamped using the Mini 48 and the largest stamp from Hot Picks Xtra02 Flowers. It fit the arch perfectly!

All the outside front edges were dotted with Chestnut Liquid Pearls.

I had a stash of chipboard flowers that I pulled out and base coated with Snowflake, and then added Limelight, Eggplant and various colors to them.

I stamped them with Sepia, Coffee, Olive and Ultramarine Blue Archival Inks using sections of stamps from Hot Picks Xtra02. Dry with a heat tool and paint on the Metallic Glaze with a brush. This REALLY made a huge difference in the flowers. Layer them together with glue when dry and add a gold metal stud to the centers.

While you have the Metallic Glaze out, take 6 Petaloo Mini Daisies and paint the glaze on their petals.

Now we’re going to get to the metal. My favorite part!
I stamped each of the Birds from Hot Picks1104 and Hot Picks1105 onto Gold Metal with StazOn Onyx Black ink, and cut a piece of wonder tape to add on the back. I used a metal tool wheel to edge around the birds and then layered it onto heavy cardstock. Lastly I cut out both birds close to the edging.

Measure and cut 2 pieces of Gold Metal for the sides (aprox. 2x6 inches). Cut 4 strips of Copper Metal slightly thinner than the width of the wood (aprox. ½”) and emboss with a 12” embossing folder. Then paint Little Black Dress on each piece of embossed metal and let it “almost” dry. Using a soft cloth, wipe off the black paint from the VERY TOP of the metal. If you take off too much, repaint and wipe off again. Let it cure for several minutes, and then polish the exposed metal. IT IS GORGEOUS!!!

{Tip: The size of your metal will shrink slightly when you emboss, so cutting it slightly larger is best. Trim it down if necessary.}

Add wonder tape to the two gold door pieces, remove the backing and add to doors of the Wooden Icon. Add wonder tape to the copper strips, remove the backing and add all around the edges of the Icon Frame

Now for the INSIDE of the doors. Glue the wooden branches to the doors. Add the flowers as shown, and use black foam squares to position birds over the base of the branches.

{Center Section Assemblage}
Glue mini Cabinet Card with "Lady" to larger Vintage Cabinet Card piece and add to middle section of the Icon. Add the 3 flowers over the top area using a foam square for the center one. Glue 2 strips of Gold Metal Studs on the sides of the "Lady" as shown.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as I have. Please don’t hesitate to email me any questions you have. I love hearing from all of you!
