Calendar Journaling has been around for a while, but since
Kate Crane has been hosting a group and showing the world what fun it is, it’s quickly becoming a bit of a
revolution. This year more so than ever because Kate has created a Facebook Calendar Journal group which has got the journaling community all excited and
raring to go for January 2013 ... Including me!
Here is my calendar journal page for January 2013. Obviously PaperArtsy is featuring quite
heavily in my first page because I’ve been so excited and proud to be asked to be a guest designer for PaperArtsy during Semester One, and I'll be scheduled week one of each month for the next 4 months, so I wanted to capture the PaperArtsy excitement on my calendar journal
page with PaperArtsy stamps of course!
I created the background using streaks of Sky, Mermaid, Ice Blue, Pea Coat, Beach Hut and Snowflake Fresco Paints. I randomly stamped some
stamps on both pages to make the background more interesting. I used a free
swirl stamp from Craft Stamper magazine, and a star burst stamp I picked up from
a car boot sale (I have no idea who made it unfortunately). I used the “work”
word stamp and the “I don’t feel like working today” stamp from Ink and The Dog: Gentleman Plate 4 (G4). (I’d like to stamp this on all my documents at work!)
Of course I had to use the wonderful Winter Lady from the
Lynne Perrella LPC016 stamp set. She is definitely my favourite stamp, she is
gorgeous!
I coloured "her" in using my Prismacolour pencils and a
waterbrush to blend some areas. I love that purple colour against the blue
background. I used some tree stamps along the bottom to give the page some
dimension and the illusion of distance. I stamped them using Tim Holtz Evergreen
Bough, Iced Spruce and Weathered Wood Distress Inks.
I’ve bought stamps and products from PaperArtsy at a show
before and I’ve been lucky enough to receive one of Leandra’s complimentary
stamps, marvellous little free gifts, and so generous. They come with a little
card in it that says ‘Enjoy your free gift from us’. I love those little
touches. I’ve used my card and cut the
logo off the bottom and stuck it right in front of my 7th of January
on my page! This is because I’m so proud, I never want to forget it, recorded
forever in my journal.
Finally I cut my 1.5 cm squares from old card stock that
compliments the colours I’ve used and arranged them in the days of the week. I’m sure I’ll be looking back at these pages for many years
and reading all about my diary of 2013!
Gillian Says: Your painted background works a treat, this is a great layout and a lovely way to remember your Guest Designer time, the inclusion of the PA card makes it extra special. This is one of my fave LP image ... she is gorgeous!
Leandra says: This is great way to make a calendar. I remember about 12 years ago doing a calendar swap with 11 other people. We each made a month's header page (x11) which got bound to the actual calendar. it was an epic swap, but a very precious calendar was created at the end! Your timing with this project is perfect!
