Hello! My name is Emma and I was really excited to get to do a project for the PaperArtsy blog. I’ve always loved crafting but started properly about 7 years ago when I wanted an extra special birthday card and my obsession spread from there.
Tonight I am showing you a card because that is what I love to make most but I’m sure the techniques can be adapted to anything you want to create.
How to make the flower:
I started off by covering a piece of card with mermaid fresco paint on one side and dusty teal on the back. I covered it on both sides because I knew my flower was going to be dimensional and didn’t want the backs of the petals to be white. I then took the circle stamp from EEV01 and the flower stamp from ELB 04 and did some kiss stamping.

To make the flower dimensional I needed to remove some of the petals. I kept one with all 8 petals, then removed 1, 2, 3 and 4 petals respectively. Then with each flower I overlapped and glued two of the petals together so that I ended up with dimensional flowers with decreasing numbers of petals. Once they were dry, I stuck all the flowers together, one on top of the other.
How to make the background:
I know that fresco paints stick to almost anything but I found out by a happy accident that they don’t stick so well to embossing powder. First I painted my card with zestyzing and then using the same circle stamp from EEV01 I heat embossed it with clear powder so that the colour would show through from underneath. Then to dull the yellow I covered with a coat of snowflake and once that was dry I painted over with mermaid. Before the paint was completely dry I took a damp babywipe and wiped over the embossing powder to remove the paint and show the colour below. I then added some text from ELB06 to fill in some of the gaps.

Finally, I went back to the Ellen Vargo stamps and created some leaves with the arch shape using dusty teal over the left over card painted with mermaid and stamped the square four times onto black card.
I added some lace (to cover up a smudge!) and beading and a blingy brad to the middle of the flower and voila – it was finished!

I really hope you like it!
Emma.
A huge thanks to Emma from all at PaperArtsy. Gorgeous card Emma, we love that 3d flower, it looks really classy with Ellen's patterning on it. The subtle colour changes are lovely, showing just what can be achieved with a limited range just by mixing or overlaying colours.
