2017 # 9 Aqua: Infusions, watercolour and alcohol {by Raquel Burrillo}

2017 Topic 9: Aqua - Infusions, water and alcohol

A beautiful Vintage feel with a fresh colour like Aqua is shared perfectly by Raquel in this wonderful post. She always likes to give you a video too, so make sure to take a look!

Hi everyone, Raquel here from scrapcosy and I would like to share with you my version for this aqua challenge. You can watch how I created my project in the YouTube video below, don't miss it!

In the past I would have never joined a challenge so different from my usual style, it really got me out of my comfort zone: just one colour, which is also so far away from my vintage browns! I also decided to just use colour, no added embellishments. So you will see that the project is very simple and I used very little supplies but in very different ways. And this challenge was the perfect excuse to finally play for the first time with the BEAUTIFUL 'A Bit Jaded' Infusions which I used with my alcohol technique. Let me show you the result.

For this project I decided to work with my scrapcosy stamp set ESC03 and the coordinated stencil PS051, which were released on the past February release.

It was so much fun to have that single colour limitation, it got me looking for aqua colour among my supplies. So I ended up with Bora Bora Fresco Paint and A Bit Jaded Infusions (I hope that is the aqua colour...)

I really love A Bit Jaded Infusions is such a beautiful colour! And it looks specially beautiful when you use my technique of spritzing water and then alcohol. This is one of the techniques I explain in my "all about infusions" YouTube playlist. It creates puddles of the different colours that are in the Infusions bottle and once dry, they give a feeling of a mosaic, don't you think?

And the result changes so much if you apply less infusions, just compare with this other piece. By the way, I tinted grunge paste with Bora Bora, I believe I used too much paint, because it was very runny. However, this is good to know, in case your Grunge Paste is becoming too thick and dry, you can rewet it by applying Fresco paint (only to the amount of GP you will use, not to the entire GP pot!)

For my centre piece I went for a watercolour look by using Infusions and water and adding colour to my grey stamped image by using brushes. Colouring time! So relaxing!

As final additions to my palette: some broken china distress ink to define the edges with a sponge dauber and white gel pen to create a faux stitching and add some highlights on the letters. But better a video than a thousand words. Grab a cup of tea and enjoy! :)

If you haven't joined the challenge yet, make sure you do so! It is so much fun! And since it is just one colour, the project can be very simple. I'm sure you'll learn a lot just by trying. If you want to try something easier, you can just get your bottle of A Bit Jaded Infusions, sprinkle some in a plain card just in the centre, spritz with water and once dry handwrite a sentiment with a black pen on top, job done! And it will look beautiful, I'm sure! Let me know what you would like to try in the comments below :) Have a good evening and see you in the next one! :)
